Continuing Education (CE)
CE stands for Continuing Education, a Cisco program that enables certified professionals to renew their certifications by earning credits through eligible training and other approved learning activities.
These credits, known as CE credits, count toward the requirements for recertification, helping participants keep their certifications active while expanding their knowledge and skills.
When a Firefly course lists “CE Credits,” the number indicates how many Continuing Education credits participants can earn by successfully completing that eligible course.
How to earn CE credits?
CE credits are awarded when you complete qualifying training, pass certification exams, attend technical sessions at Cisco Live, or join the Cisco subject matter expert (SME) program to help develop exams.
The certification Lifecicle
Most Cisco certifications are active for three years. You can keep your certification active by recertifying at any point during those three years.
How CE credits are applied
You must complete all requirements for recertification by your certification expiration date. Credits accumulate until you recertify your highest level of certification. At that point, all certifications at that level and below become recertified.
Earn CE credits by completing training in Cisco U.
When you complete CE-eligible Learning Paths in Cisco U., you’ll be awarded CE credits, which apply toward recertification.
